Mission

CASC serves as a national forum for Chairs of Surgery to collaborate, influence policy, and share best practices that enhance the academic surgical enterprise in Canada and beyond.

Objectives, the CASC aims to:

Foster Collaboration

Provide a platform for chairs to exchange ideas, challenges, and strategic insights.

Advance Academic Excellence

Promote leadership in surgical research, clinical innovation, and education at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculty development levels.

Advocate Nationally

Represent Canadian academic surgery in discussions with health and education stakeholders including the RCPSC, AFMC, CIHR, and ministries of health.

Support Diversity & Well-being

Encourage inclusive leadership, equity, and wellness within surgical departments.

Mentor & Develop Leaders

Facilitate succession planning and support leadership development across academic ranks.

Enhance National Coordination

Serve as a hub for coordinating with related national surgical and academic bodies.
